A company-wide key performance indicator to improve client and employee safety was identified and measured by the \u201cSafety Seven\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Negley award was presented at the Mental Health Corporation of America (MHCA) conference in Clearwater Beach, Florida on February 23, 2012.  The Negley award will be formally presented to GIHN at the 42nd National Council conference in Chicago, Illinois scheduled in April 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bill Hazel, Secretary of Health and Human Resources is scheduled to be at Grafton Integrated Health Network\u2019s corporate office on Tuesday, April 10th to hear about the innovative risk management practices that led to GIHN wining a second Negley President\u2019s award.  \u201cIt is exciting to see the innovation of a local organization in improving the lives of those served has been recognized on a national level,\u201d said Dr. Hazel.  \u201cThis is the standard of treatment and care that sets Grafton Integrated Health Network apart as a leader in behavioral healthcare.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSafety is a fundamental right and essential component for the attainment of health, peace, justice and well-being for all individuals, particularly those with significant mental health issues\u201d, said Jim Gaynor, CEO\/President.  \u201cThe measurement of the safety seven factors across the organization is a win-win initiative for clients, employees and the organization as a whole and we are delighted that Dr. Hazel supports our innovation in improving the lives of those served.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GIHN also won the Negley President\u2019s award in 2008 for The Minimization of Restraint Initiative, a revolutionary technique that highlighted non-coercive techniques for those experiencing behavioral difficulties.  In March 2011, GIHN was a finalist for the first annual Virginia Healthcare Innovators Award (VAHCI)\u2014recognizing Virginia organizations that have developed innovative ways to improve healthcare quality and efficiency\u2014for best practices in trauma informed treatment and care.<\/p>\n<p>The Negley Awards, established in 1990 by Negley Associates, Inc., underwriting managers for the Mental Health Risk Retention Group (MHRRG), are a series of cash grants presented annually behavioral healthcare organizations across the country that demonstrate excellence in risk management practices.   Since the award program\u2019s inception, more than one-quarter million dollars has been awarded to outstanding behavioral healthcare organizations that promote exemplary risk management practices to clients, employees and the community at large.<\/p>\n<p>About Grafton Integrated Health Network<br \/>\nGrafton Integrated Health Network (GIHN) is a private, nonprofit organization that has served children, adolescents and adults with disabilities and significant emotional and\/or behavioral challenges for more than 50 years.
